Chiropractic Wellness

Chiropractic originated in 1895 and is based upon the law of biology that states; inborn into all living things is the ability to be well. Chiropractic draws on the fact of physiology that the nervous system (consisting of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and special sensory organs) controls and co-ordinates all other organs and structures in the body and relates the person to their environment. Removing interference to this master control system allows the body to heal itself and gives the optimum conditions for life and health.

Your nervous system controls and co-ordinates all the functions of your body. If you interfere with the signals traveling over nerves, parts of your body will not get the proper nerve messages and will not be able to function at 100% of your innate ability. In other words, some part of your body will not be working properly. This state is known as subluxation.

It is the responsibility of the Doctor of Chiropractic to locate subluxations, and reduce or correct them. This is done through a series of gentle and safe chiropractic adjustments specifically designed to correct the vertebral subluxations in your spine. Chiropractors are the only professionals who undergo years of training to be the experts at correcting subluxations.

Chiropractors advise on a holistic approach to health. This approach looks at the different stresses, be they Physical, Emotional or Chemical that could be causing dys-function or a lack of harmony in the body.

By correcting the effects of stress and reducing their frequency & intensity the body can start to heal naturally and function better.

UCA chiropractors will often be able to discuss your concerns & / or questions regarding spinal health, healthy eating, exercise and positive mental states.

Your health

What does good health mean to you?

Absence of pain? More energy? Being fit?

The world health organization defines health as

“a complete state of physical, mental and social wellbeing, not merely the absence of disease of infirmity”

In other words health is multifaceted. The absence of pain, disease or strength does not constitute good health. Good health is defined as optimal or complete.

As your nervous system is the master controller of the body, chiropractors are interested in restoring normal function to your body, allowing a state of wellness to exist.
